Old Entrance To Baron Hill Manor

It was a quiet Sunday afternoon, with nothing on the agenda. Thankfully, the sun was starting to set, and the air was cooling off. It felt like the perfect mood to grab my camera and wander around an old, derelict building. The only question was—where to go?
A quick Google search revealed Baron Hill, which looked like a charming little trip just down the road to Beaumaris. I packed my camera, some lunch, and a few brain cells for the adventure.
Let me tell you, this place was not easy to find. However, the beautiful countryside along the way provided plenty of opportunities for photography. Fortunately, there was ample residential parking available near a local school. After what felt like ages and battling my way through dense undergrowth, I finally arrived at the site.

To be honest, I was not particularly impressed and might not rush back anytime soon, possibly due to the overwhelming jungle-like terrain. I can imagine, though, that in its heyday, this was an impressive manor house with spectacular views overlooking Beaumaris and the seafront. The sheer size and scale left nothing to the imagination of pure grandeur at the time.
With just a little imagination, I managed to cobble together a couple of basic compositions, but afraid many of them were of the surrounding foliage or views rather than the building itself. Certainly an occasion for thinking outside the box.

As always, feel free to let me know what you think.

Baron Hill

Route Details

As long as you are not distracted by the beautiful landscapes and views, locating Baron Hill couldn’t be easier. Simply park up on Maes Hyfryd, which is a residential area. Then simply cross over the road heading into the woodland opposite. Afraid this is where things get a little more difficult, and you have to use a sense of direction through all the undergrowth.

Following the visit back in July, we all knew this was going to be a must do, revisit. First time around, I was simply dumb struck by the amazing Seals Of Angel Bay in North Wales. However, this time I had a serioulsy problem…
