It took just one quick glance out of the caravan door at daft o’clock this morning—an early, still-prevailing darkness—to confirm where my footsteps would lead me that day. Instinctively, I knew I would head straight towards the majestic Snowcapped Tryfan Mountain, a striking symbol of the rugged beauty that defines this part of the world. Little did I realise, then, how profoundly breathtaking the morning would turn out to be, surpassing even my highest expectations. As I began my slow, deliberate journey along the narrow, winding path that zigzagged its way through the lush, untamed landscape, I could feel the weight of anticipation building in my chest. Every step was filled with quiet excitement, knowing I was about to witness one of nature’s most incredible displays.
The first rays of dawn slowly kissed the rugged peaks of Tryfan, igniting them with a luminous, golden glow. The light danced gracefully across the rocky slopes and jagged summits, transforming the mountain into a shimmering crown of fire and light. The early morning sun gently lit up every crag and crevice, accentuating their rugged textures and highlighting the mountain’s wild, unspoiled grandeur. It was as though the land itself was awakening, stretching its limbs and revealing its splendor to the world. This fleeting moment—caught between darkness and daylight—embodied the magic of early mornings on the mountain.
The air was incredibly crisp, filled with the pure, invigorating scent of mountain flora and fresh earth. Each breath I took felt rejuvenating, filling my lungs with a cool, clean freshness that was a stark contrast to the warm, cozy comfort inside the caravan. The silent stillness was almost tangible, broken only by the gentle whisper of the breeze as it swept through the surrounding grasses and over the rocky ridges. I paused for a moment to take it all in, feeling a deep sense of peace and connection to the wilderness.
Everywhere I looked, Nature was presenting an awe-inspiring tableau—delicate dew-laden spider webs draped across blades of grass and tiny bushes, shimmering like silvery curtains in the dawn’s soft light. Wildflowers, still curled from sleep, were beginning to unfurl their vibrant petals—blues, purples, and yellows—adding splashes of colour to the otherwise subdued palette of early morning grey and green. The cheerful calls of early birds echoed through the valley; their melodies intertwined with the rustling leaves and distant hum of insects, creating a natural symphony that felt both wild and serenely harmonious. It was one of those rare moments when time seemed to pause altogether, allowing me to fully absorb and appreciate the splendour of my surroundings.
Standing there, at the foot of Tryfan, I was reminded of the extraordinary but often overlooked beauty found just beyond daily routines and familiar comforts—a pristine, untouched tapestry waiting patiently to be explored and admired. This scenic, tranquil landscape exemplified nature’s artistry at its finest, offering a profound sense of freedom and wonder. With every breath and every glance, I felt deeply connected to this wild sanctuary—an endless source of inspiration and serenity that beckoned me to continue exploring, discovering more of its secrets tucked away in the quiet silence of that magnificent mountain.
Thankfully Tryfan and Ogwen Valley is a small 20 minute drive from the caravan over at Tros-y-waen Holiday Park. As always all the main roads were well gritted over night in order to travel.
Anybody who knows the Ogwen Valley area, knows there is ample parking, mainly free parking at that. But this amount of free parking comes with its own risks. Parking on the roadside is risky, if your on double yellows the chances are your car won’t be there when you get back.
Don’t leave it too chance, either arrive nice and early to avoid the crowds or arrive later once the bulk of the crowds have gone home.
There is also paid parking near the The Ogwen Snack Bar at the base of Ogwen Valley, but these are very limited in number.

It took just one look out of the caravan door at daft o’clock this morning and I knew straight away where I would be headed, straight for the Snowcapped Tryfan Mountain. However little did I know just how beautiful…

A location I came across, purly by accident whilst looking for other walking route. Little did I know what was really about to be uncovered as I explored the Twin Penmachno Arched Stone Bridges…

It’s been one of those mornings and nothing is going right. But I am determined to still make as much as I can of it, so off got a simple drive around the back roads of Snowdonia National Park to see what views I find…

Finally a chance to catch the Lonley Tree during an autumnal morning on the Llyn Padarn, in North Wales. Hopefully you will all agree, it wasn’t a wasted trip with some amazing blue hour results…

Drive past this location almost daily. So where better for a quick lunch break to pull in and have a quick look around with the camera in hand.

Hi again it’s is nice to see you again as you might already know hi it is Evelyn here…
Someone got me up at 6.00 am #rude. A fun fact about the lonely tree if you go to the side of it, it looks like a reindeer (just to get you in the Christmas spirit).

As I carefully navigate the uneven, rocky terrain, the air is thick with the earthy scent of mineral-rich soil — a heady mixture that evokes both nostalgia and awe.

It’s been on radar for a while. But the Mach Loop is a location for serious photographers. Amateur like me perhaps not best suited, but hey how will I learn if I don’t push myself or even try???

The skys were clear and all I could think about was how today was the perfect day to photograph the Manx Rose, over on Anglesey. The tide would be out and the sun would be setting in just the right place.

Last night I knew I wanted to see the Dolphins; we checked when the high tide will be. It was at 12:56pm so about lunch time. We wanted to go there at the highest tide because

As I leisurely strolled along the shoreline, the stillness of the night enveloped the scene in an almost surreal tranquility Point of Ayr Lighthouse Summer Sunset. Almost as if time itself had momentarily paused to appreciate the quiet beauty before me. The darkness of the sky was so deep and velvety that it contrasted sharply with the solitary silhouette of the lighthouse, which stood tall and unwavering, a silent guardian against the encroaching night.
