Dashing down to the caravan on a Friday night, traffic was a nightmare as always. So I decided to take a slight detour and pay a visit to the LLanberis Lonely Tree to see if I could get any good photos.
As normal traffic wasn’t on my side and I didn’t arrive in time to plan out my composition etc. It was literally a case of grab the camera; get the shots in before the sunset was out of sight. Having said that, having visited The Lonley Tree, this certainly won’t be my last visit.
The main note taken from this trip would simply be that “timing” is going be the main key. Certainly a sunsets and sunrise location, especially with the backdrop of the mountains and valley. Due to the location of the tree within Llyn Padarn, hopefully I will be able to avoid any rush hours of photographers in the future as I can imagine how busy it gets.
Having said I was late getting there, it was amazing to find out just how much the views and colours changed with each photograph. Simply stunning colours and views would be an understatement.

It goes without saying that The Lonley Tree is the most photographed trees in North Wales. The Llanberis and Llyn Padarn is well visited by photographers, mountain hikers, train enthusiasts and plenty more.
Having been here for just minutes on my first visit, I can see exactly why this is the case. The Llyn is beautiful and often very busy due to the surrounding mountains and hiking araes. The Lonley Tree is isolated by itself in the Llyn hence the name Lonley Tree and with the bottom of the LLyn split between the Glider Fawr and Crib Goch mountain range there is always an amazing backdrop.
Llyn Padarn is the lake and whilst a beautiful walk. If however your aim to photography Lonley Tree, I would aim to avoid peak times as it can get very very busy.
Being The Lonley Tree, it is situated in a secluded but open area, meaning getting your position to gain that perfect composition can be a challenge at the best of times. Sunrise and sunset are clearly the best times to visit, but I can bet you won’t be the only photographer thinking the same thing.

As I leisurely strolled along the shoreline, the stillness of the night enveloped the scene in an almost surreal tranquility Point of Ayr Lighthouse Summer Sunset. Almost as if time itself had momentarily paused to appreciate the quiet beauty before me. The darkness of the sky was so deep and velvety that it contrasted sharply with the solitary silhouette of the lighthouse, which stood tall and unwavering, a silent guardian against the encroaching night.
An amazing little wander around the old quarry and lake at Dorothea Quarry in the welsh village of Talysarn in the Snowdonia National Park region. Within minutes of arriving, calmness and serene views were springing up everywhere.
After settling into the starting point near Pont-y-Pair, the trail gently dips into the lush greenery that lines the riverbank. The air is filled with the gentle murmur of flowing water and the distant calls of songbirds…
As the gentle sea breeze whispers through the rigging and the distant call of seagulls echoes across the bay, stepping aboard the Galeon Andalucia feels like embarking on a voyage back in time.
As always, watching the Dinas Dinlle Golden Hour Sunset from the caravan window and just knew had to get out there with the camera…
